No joke, I've been sick with one dreaded illness after another for a month straight. This also means I haven't been exercising since I've barely had the energy to get through the day, which means I didn't lose those 5 remaining pounds of baby weight before the wedding. Which also means it's not going to feel good to get into shape so I haven't even tried since we arrived home :) Isn't that convenient??
It all began with a little flu that circled our family like wild fire. Remember that weekend where all we did was stay home and work on the growth chart? Well, then I caught Lilly's pink eye only to be joined by a sinus infection and a sore throat which I have never had the likes of in my life. The sore throat was so bad I was sleeping on the couch at night to be propped up and had a garbage can next to me to spit every couple minutes instead of swallowing because that was excruciatingly painful. My tonsils looked as if they had a war with a white out pen (remember those things?) and lost. I went to the Doc. 5 days into this and got tested for Strep and Mono (both were thankfully negative) but then I was started on antibiotics which weren't working so I got put on stronger antibiotics. I figured by this point (14 days into the sore throat) I had paid my price and I would be able to have a healthy vacation. Oh no....I was welcomed to Utah with a cold and my family was welcomed by the flu. Poor Lillian had it first and it circled back around to her when she had it a second time the next week, after I had caught it. I was so exhausted. As in hardly getting out of bed for two consecutive days. I also was having these crazy dreams and feeling an underlying nausea for 3 days. At this point I started to freak myself out, figured I was in the 1% category and took a pregnancy test. No, it was not positive. As much as I love babies, I am not ready for another one yet and neither is my body or sanity or budget or husband and the list goes on. Finally toward the end of the vacation we started to feel better just in time for the wedding and the drive home!
However, I don't mean to be negative because I am normally in good health and times like this make me appreciate my health overall!
Jonas's highlights from the trip in picture form...Besides cutting his first tooth and starting to crawl :) It was a big two weeks for him.

oh you poor guys! I guess I haven't caught up since your trip. I don't know what it is about vacationing to utah but illness seems to be what it should be called instead. We are glad your are back.
ReplyDeleteI like that photo of Gary, Jared, and Jonas. Glad you're feeling better too! Can't wait 'til I'm fully recovered. Love ya.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Momma Cait! I totally feel for you. Really, I do. I have also been chronically ill with one thing after another (also sore throats, and bizarre 'never-before-in-my-life' sinus infections. Turns out we were living in a toxic mold petrie dish! I sure hope that's not your case, and it's been just a weird period. Feel better (and I mean REALLY better) soon, my darling friend. Give hugs to the kids-- they are so big! Jocelyn in school? Nuts!
ReplyDeleteMiss you. (We're planning X-Mas visit soon, so I'll let you know.) Love you, Sarita
