Halloween Fun!

Ms. Camera avoider loved using the little pumpkins to sit on
We are so lucky to have the best pumpkin patch near our house!  It is seriously a lot of fun and I wish at times like these that I were a better photographer and that I had a better camera, but here are a few from our afternoon pumpkin patch visit.  The main complaint from the kids was that it was "TOO HOT!" I informed them that was hardly a complaint in October...We all split some kettle corn and saw the amazingly large pumpkins in the competitions.  We just wish Jared could take off afternoons like that to spend with us. Jonas also went there for a field trip and got to ride the train, hay ride, corn maze and carousel with his friends.  He came back exhausted which is always a good sign :)

We also had our church Trunk or Treat where our family dressed up as the x-men. Only nobody knew who we were. Seriously! Apparently we are the only ones who have heard of the X-Men.  Jared was Cyclops, I was Jean Grey (since they are a couple) Jocelyn was Storm, Lillian was Rogue, Jonas was Wolverine (some people recognized that character) and Emma was Kitty Pryde. I thought the character choice was pretty fitting with all our personalities and the girls thought of it on their own.  I admit I didn't go all out with the costumes this year and the colored hair spray may have made the girls look more homeless than in character, but still, we tried...The kids had a lot of fun and Emma was introduced to the amazing world of candy.  She was allowed to have one dum-dum sucker and thought it was the best thing in the world.  We decided it was NOT the easiest thing "taking candy from a baby" when we had to pry it from her hands before we put her in the tub.

Since the costumes didn't go over super well on Saturday, we had some costume changes before Halloween day.  The kids wore different things to their school Halloween parades and for trick or treating.  Luckily, we have a ton of "dress-ups" on hands so it didn't involve anything except a little creativity.  Lillian decided to be a husky but then changed her mind the morning of school so we had to persuade her back to her original plan.  She was very concerned that everyone would call her a wolf instead of a husky so she wrote herself a name tag.  It was  grand idea except that 90% of kindergartners can't read so it wasn't going over really smooth, unfortunately.  She looked great and it was easy comfortable and warm for school.  The younger two and I were back and forth to the school all day going to the various parades, parties, etc.  On the way home from school we stopped at Jamba Juice because they were giving out free kids smoothies to counteract all the candy and junk food.  My parents came into town that day as well so it was so fun to have them be a part of our 6th annual spooktacular dinner and they held down the fort while we took kids out trick or treating.
