Our Christmas season was broken into two parts this year. Our portion in California where we tried to squeeze in a lot of our usual traditions into a 2 week period and then the trip to Idaho and Utah to visit family for the actual holidays.

We kicked off the CA traditions by delivering our Christmas potpourri to friends, teachers, etc. which I always really enjoy. I even had a small crockpot this year in which we could place the potpourri and have it smell like Christmas spice constantly at home-YUM!
For teacher appreciation at the girls school they somehow insanely decided that we needed an entire week of treats and gifts instead of our usual one day a month. Here are a few of the things I assisted with: Decorations, a Hot Chocolate Bar and then peppermint bark popcorn for all the teachers.

We hosted our annual hot chocolate party. The girls were very excited to help make signs in preparation for it. They also crushed up candy canes, cleaned up the house, made appetizers, etc. Yay for having some real help now that they are getting older. Lillian and her friend prepared a musical number to perform "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth." This year we also had the kids perform a live nativity and it was really fun to add that component. All the kids were really good sports!

We also hosted a bunch of friends one afternoon to make gingerbread houses. It was chaotic but every year I learn how to more effectively host this particular activity so hopefully we will have it down one of these years, probably right when the kids are growing too old to want to participate! We had different stations for each group of kiddos.

We also decorated for Christmas, took our annual Christmas Sunday photo by the tree and got out our Christmas Pillow cases. Nana made the older girls Christmas pillow cases of their own this year which turned out really cute!! The kids were able to visit with Santa and Emma surprised us all by not only being willing to go sit on Santa's lap but even bunny hopped over to climb on his lap and when he asked what she wanted for Christmas she responded "a candy cane" and pointed to the bucket next to him. Little stinker!
