Crafty Girls

Jocelyn and Lillian are really enjoying their little preschool/playgroup that we do with some other kids from church. Basically, every Mon & Wed for a couple hours we meet at a friend's house which is kind of a pain to drive out there for 1/2 hour, but both the girls seem to really enjoy it. They have their own little mats with their names on it that they use to sit on during stories, songs, etc. Each month we have a different theme on which we focus the activities, crafts, songs, etc. We have done animals, bugs & reptiles and next month is plants. On a bad day 4 kids and on a good day 8 kids will be there ranging from 18 mos. To 4 years. We focus the activities and crafts on the older kids, but the younger siblings love to do whatever the older ones are doing so they usually participate. We have outside exploring time (as they live on a decent piece of property) and snack time and usually sing songs and read books. Last week we hosted because that family was sick. I think the kids like getting together with their friends and having time and activities focused on them. All the parents are there pitching in and helping and there is usually one or two dads in the group since the moms are working on the Dad’s days off. Both Jocelyn & Lillian get very excited when I tell them it is a preschool day and really seemed to like hosting it at our house too. It’s nice to feel connected with other people even if we are all pretty different in terms of age, background, etc. Here are some pictures of the crafts they have made. I was running out of room on my fridge and we needed to de-clutter for our company coming this weekend so I had them each take a picture with all their crafts and they each picked two of their favorites to keep. Here is also a picture of them painting the other day so they could be contained while I vacuumed. They love being creative and showing any visitors which craft is theirs!

  2. Wow, what fun crafts. It is fun being connected and doing things with others. Your girls are getting so big. It seems like forever since I saw them last.

Thanks for the comments on my blog about two kids. It is getting better every day. This week has been a good one. It is one of the first normal feeling weeks I have had (no visitors, no flu, my incision has completely healed and am allowed to lift things again). I'm so glad to have moms to model our home after. Thanks for the tips. I totally have felt bad for not being the same mom to Seth that I had been, but I think you nailed it when you said that it is good for them to have another kid around. I can see that this will be good for Seth.
