I had my ultrasound this last week
and we were excited to find out we are having a girl!! Watch out Jonas and Jared. Jared said “you’re going to be doing hair all
day long!” but we are excited. Everything looked on track and healthy at the
appointment but after the radiologist and the doctor looked at the results,
they had some concerns about the baby’s heart.
They requested that I go in for a more in depth ultrasound at a place in
San Jose on June 18th and although we aren’t exactly sure what that
means yet, we are hoping and praying for the best. I asked the doctor worst and best case
scenarios and he said best case is that there is just a weak vessel that is
causing some concern and worst case is that we could be looking at down
syndrome (and of course anything in between on this spectrum). I am a little nervous, but trusting that
Heavenly Father will give us the strength that we need to handle any issues
that arise. We may not know anything
definite until we have the baby, but we are hopeful that a more definitive
answer will come at the next ultrasound.
Keep us and the baby in your prayers!
One thing that I have forgotten to
mention, I think, is that I am craving potatoes like crazy this pregnancy. Especially at the beginning being so sick I wanted
mashed potatoes, funeral potatoes, hash browns, you name it. I even mixed up some instant potatoes in
desperation and ate those one day. Jared
is very proud and says that makes it an Otterstrom baby, but I remind him my
mom is from Idaho…I am unfortunately still on my morning sickness medication as
both times I have tried to stop taking it in the last month (at 17 wks and 19
wks), I have thrown up the next morning.
No fun, but at least I have some medication that helps.
