We had a fun and quintessential Memorial Day starting out with a church breakfast at a local park complete with yummy food, patriotic songs and poems, visiting with friends and kids playing at the park. The boys took naps at home while the girls and I went to cheer on the (8 yr old) baseball game of a family friend. That afternoon we had a BBQ and swimming at the Woolford’s house and by then everyone was so tired out we had to pretty much go straight to bed. Overall very fun!
On Jared’s birthday the girls were very excited to cook him breakfast and deliver it to him in
bed. He is not much of a breakfast
eater, but humored them anyway and went away very full that morning. In the evening the Woolfords watched the kids
for us so Jared and I could go out to dinner.
We went to a new Mexican restaurant he had been wanting to try and it was
nice to have a little time together before we joined everyone back at the
Woolfords for some birthday cake.
Lillian had her Joy School graduation with a
family BBQ, swimming in the hot tub for kids and a cute little program. Each child and teacher received a gift and award, we watched a slide show of
activities throughout the year and each of the kids couldn’t contain their
excitement and enthusiasm!! The kids
also performed a couple songs we had worked on and it turned out pretty darn cute. Lilly in general needs
less sleep than Jocelyn and Jonas and the other day around 1:00 I saw her give
a big yawn and mentioned if she wanted to go lay on the couch, I could come
read to her. She doesn’t like anything
that resembles naps or quiet time even though she could use both most days. She told me immediately: “Oh, that yawn was from this morning, I just
forgot to yawn this morning!” as if there was no way on earth that she would be
tired, she was just making up for lost yawns from earlier. We’ve had some good quality time while
Jocelyn has been in school this year and I’m sure we’ll have a little
adjustment period this summer having everyone home again all day.

My parents moved back to California last weekend and we’ve
been trying to figure out a time to visit them, but with all the activities
last weekend and this being the last week of school, they made it down to visit
us first. They thoroughly spoiled us. I
got to nap every day, Jonas took Grandpa for several walks and Nana read to the
girls and helped me with dinner. They
made it in time for Jocelyn’s preppy k program which was pretty darling. They
performed songs, plays, and were each presented a diploma, a “yearbook”( a
collection of their art work with pictures throughout the year)
and Jocelyn was even the main character in one of her plays. She was very excited and did a great job, and
it made it more special to have grandpa and nana there with us. After she got her report card she immediately
requested a trip to fro-yo delite so we all went out after dinner last night
for a special treat.

Jocelyn was very excited for the last week of school and
will start art camp this coming Monday so I think she won’t really comprehend
summer until the following week. She
will miss the constant learning and socialization I’m sure. A couple weeks ago I was helping brush her
teeth and hurt her loose tooth on accident.
She was not happy about that and told me “You did that double on
purpose, double on accident” with a lot of emotion and Jared and I had to wait
until she left the room to give each other puzzled looks and contain our
laughter. She is trying to sound out
more words and read a little and I keep hoping she’ll grasp the concept and
gain excitement and momentum soon.
This morning we went to a free bike rally put on by Specialized
bikes (headquartered in Morgan Hill) and the local Rotary chapter and it was
great! The kids went through different
stations starting out with helmet fitting and bike maintenance and then each
station had a different safety concept that was being taught. The girls did great and Jonas was pretty
patient as long as he had some snacks to occupy him! They finished up by giving each child a
t-shirt and some fruit, clif bars, and jamba juice. We, of course, didn’t win any of the
specialized products they raffled off for those in attendance but what’s
new?? We
finished off by walking over to the Farmer’s Market and grandpa treated us to
all sorts of yummy fruit. I think we would have qualified for a page of “The Napping
House” book after that since everyone laid right down and slept after such a
fun morning.

Jonas has been so funny whenever he gets hurt lately. He wants it to be “kissed better” by anyone
in the nearby proximity. If he doesn’t
have it kissed by a few people (or by me 3 times if I’m the only one near),
then he just keeps pointing to it saying “owie” repeatedly until he gets a
little more attention. He’s not one to
cry about it, but he does want everyone acknowledging that it exists. He is talking more and more and this weekend
I felt like I was his translator while my parents were in town because he would
just tell them about anything he was doing or seeing and I understand most of
it, but I’m still learning as well.
I love to see your parents there! Looks so nice and cozy to be all together... Give them my love.

What a gorgeous picture of you in red! You have had so much fun! I love knowing that your family is back in CA. As long as their headquarters is there I'm good:) Little Jonas seems to be a ham. It will be fun to see him again!
