Happy Halloween

Our Halloween was obviously trumped this year by the arrival of little Jonas, but we still held our annual dinner with the Lofdahls (Jared’s coworker and his family) and it was really fun to see them. We had halloweenies, witch’s brew, pizza mummies, eerie eyeballs, hallo-bean dip and boo cups for dessert. Cerissa brought a couple of the items and Jocelyn was extremely helpful with the decorating and table setting so we had a fun time.

Last Saturday we went to the local pumpkin patch, which was pretty fun. We were able to beat the rain and pick out a pumpkin for each girl. Of course we spent more on two merry go-round tickets than we did on pumpkins, but I guess that’s how those places work. I was only accused twice of “smuggling a pumpkin” in my stomach by old men who thought they were funny. Since it was only days before delivery, I have to admit it looked fairly close to that! Jared skillfully carved Jocelyn’s pumpkin as a Dora the Explorer and Lillian, of course, wanted a puppy which I thoroughly messed up. I think I completely failed to take pictures of these between cleaning up the mess and cooking the pumpkin seeds. I guess you can’t win them all!

Jocelyn had a Halloween parade, performance and party at Joy School this week that my mom attended since I was in the hospital; the videos and pictures they took were darling. On Friday Jared took the girls to a little Halloween party hosted by one of Lilly’s friends and they had fun dressing as Rosetta (a fairy friend in the Tinkerbell movie) and Tinkerbell.

Our family themed costumes were "peter pan" where Jocelyn was Peter Pan, Lilly was Tinkerbell, I was an overweight Wendy, Jonas was a lost boy and Jared Captain hook. Last night they attended the church Trunk or Treat while the baby and I stayed home and rested, but overall we had a fun Halloween week!

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Your little baby boy is adorable and seems like things went well with labor, even if you felt like you were "cheating" :) I hope you are doing good and getting SOME sleep. I'm impressed to see all of you in costume so soon after you had him!
