- We were able to attend the community tree lighting ceremony, light parade and visit with Santa which was pretty fun despite the wet weather. The girls were quite nervous to sit on Santa’s lap but When we got to the front of the line Jared talked Jocelyn into it, so Lilly followed suit. Jocelyn asked for a sewing machine and Lilly wanted a puppy. Santa responded “oh, who is going to take care of that puppy?” Well, come to find out, when we talked with Lilly more about it she just meant a toy puppy. Santa may be able to deliver on that one…A complete stranger gave us money to buy a picture of the girls with Santa since neither of us brought money (and don’t have money to spend on that anyway!) It was very generous and reminded me there is still good and kindness in the world!
- Our Home teachers gave us a Gingerbread House kit so the girls decorated that one night for family home evening which was really cute. We went one afternoon to a local Toy Store for a reading of Polar Express, Ginger Cookies & writing letters to Santa. The girls have enjoyed having Family Home Evening lessons all month about the nativity including dress ups, movies, and even Jocelyn teaching one lesson with materials she had made in her church class.
- Jocelyn performed as Mary in her Joy School Nativity and had a fun little gift exchange and Christmas get-together on her last day of Joy School for the month. She also thoroughly enjoyed the Nutcracker performance that we attended with my Dad, Mom, Brother & Sister last weekend. She was absolutely riveted the entire performance and she and Lillian haven’t stopped talking about it (and putting on their ballet clothes and prancing around the house).
- Lillian has been very into dress-ups lately and gets quite into character. This week alone we had to call her “snow white” for two straight days, “Princess Lilly” another day and we get quite busted if we don’t adhere to the correct name. We were visiting my cousins a couple weeks ago and Lilly saw one of them holding Jonas. She came over and, pointing to Jonas, said “we have one of those.” My cousin played along with her and said “you have a baby just like this, with an outfit like this and everything?” Lilly thought it was an amazing coincidence. Well, about 10 minutes later when I was sitting down to feed Jonas, Lilly asked me “why are you feeding that baby and where is my baby?” It was pretty comical when I had to explain to her that I was indeed holding Jonas.
Jonas turned 8 weeks old this week and besides a cranky afternoon and evening yesterday he has been doing pretty well. He had several good sleeping nights this week, and he loves to smile at his sisters and especially his Dad. He was excited to meet his aunt Kelsey & Uncle Brian last weekend and he'll be excited to meet Nate & Tausha this weekend!
