Birthdays!

With Halloween brings with it the celebration of my (almost) Halloween Babies.  Jonas and Emma have birthdays just days apart and we squeezed them into our week of wonders.  Monday I was in charge of teaching Jonas's preschool so I told all the moms that the 1st half of the day would be preschool, the 2nd half I was going to host Jonas's birthday party.  It worked out splendidly.  We provided lunch and cake, opened gifts, had a couple games and a craft and we were all done by 12:30!  Jared worked from home and even picked up the girls on their school lunch hour to come home and join in the fun.  Needless to say, they were very unhappy with having to go back to school for the remainder of the day.  They were, however, very sweet to give Jonas these heartfelt birthday cards along with their dollar store gifts. I'm telling you what, nothing melts a mama's heart more than seeing their kids be kind to each other!  Even Emma helped "sign" lillian's card (the little squiggles all over the index card).  Jonas wanted a Captain America birthday (this could have been with a little help from his mom since the craft and cake were a lot simpler than transformers, which is his other passion right now :)

On Halloween night we were going to have my parents in town,Greg and Maren and some friends over for Spooktacular dinner so I figured "why not throw Emma's bday party in there too?"  It was a crazy day but we all survived and she had a fun birthday night.  Here she is with some of the birthday guests.  She loves "reading" peter pan approximately 11 times a day, so we thought this would be fitting! (ignore the fact that the cake looks like a strawberry and just pretend it's a feminine twist on peter pan).  We had a ton of extra pink from Jocelyn's bday so I used that. It really should have been a darker green underneath to make it look more "peter pan-ish".  She is such a stinker with getting her pictures taken right now so it was hard to get any with her looking at the camera AND smiling. I know... a tall order!
