Halloween Halloween...To Infinity and Beyond

The kids were excited to put together a family themed costume again.  I always tell them we don't have to do a theme, they can just wear individual costumes, but they like when Jared and I dress up with them so it's worth the sacrifice, I guess. This year for our church Trunk or Treat we dressed up as characters from Toy Story.  We even included some last minute additions of "Evil Dr. Pork Chop" and "Zurg" since my mom and sister were in town and up for joining in the fun.

It was so great to have Kelsey visit us for the day since she was in Dixon for the weekend.  We also invited our neighbors to join us at the Trunk or Treat.

Emma as an alien from toy story
 Jonas as Buzz Lightyear
Jocelyn as Jessie the cowgirl
Lilly Bo Peep
We joined our neighbors (through the gate) for pumpkin carving again this year and I keep waiting for the year that I won't have to be digging out everyone's pumpkins!!  The girls did a pretty good job on theirs but asked me to scrape the sides and get the remaining gunk out of the inside.  They mostly carved their own, though, so that's something!

My parents came into town for Halloween to help us get through a crazy week of birthdays, teaching preschool, etc.  It was so fun to have them here!! My mom was able to see the school halloween parades, help teach preschool, watch kids while I ran errands and volunteered in classrooms and help out with dinner.  On Halloween day I taught preschool then hosted a halloween parade and performance with all the preschool families.  The boys had fun making food crafts and performing their poem and song we had been practicing. Such a fun group of families.

That night we hosted our 7th annual spooktacular dinner and had some friends join us for that and trick or treating (and a birthday party).  Needless to say: We were a little pooped the next day!
