| My family room with kids home from school |
This is how I know my kids are on vacation from school...My house looks like this!! And don't get me wrong...I loved having them home, having time to sew a little and let them lounge around in the morning instead of rushing out the door to school. Although we missed seeing any of our siblings and parents, we did appreciate not having to travel (as did our budget). Since we were going to be home all week with no school we decided to put together a play-date amidst the baking. We invited several friends (and their moms) over to make some kids crafts, put on a First Thanksgiving play and have a potluck lunch. It ended up being really fun!
Jocelyn was in charge of a turkey craft and put together all the materials for this cute pinecone turkey.
She also assisted me in putting together the food crafts: A reese's pieces turkey and a pilgrim hat.
I tried to gather some accurate information about the 1st Thanksgiving and told the kids about visiting plymouth then we did a simple performance of Squanto befriending the Plymouth colony. Jocelyn helped me sew some simple costumes and we pulled together odds and ends to let everyone participate. It was cute all in all. Here is most of the crew minus the younger kids who were way too distracted to participate in the performance.

| Two little pilgrims |
For Thanksgiving afternoon we joined my aunt and uncle, as well as my cousin and his family for dinner. We had the privilege of dining on Turducken that my cousin made-very tasty! As well as all the usual traditional foods. Friday was divine with all the leftovers galore so we could decorate a little bit for Christmas.
